Effective Learning Systems was founded by Bob Griswold in 1972 to research and develop new techniques of guided imagery, deep relaxation, self-hypnosis and other methods to help people develop their true potential. We started by working with small groups of individuals in private seminars and workshops. In the process – and through our experience of working with well over 50,000 people – we developed and refined the most effective ways to help people achieve their goals and make positive changes in their lives.

In addition to our seminars, workshops, and audio programs, ELS was licensed as a private school by the Department of Education. And we have continued to serve as consultants to private industry and government on an on-going basis. We have also presented many health and human development conferences and workshops at the University of Minnesota and other colleges featuring world-renowned speakers such as Norman Cousins, Bernie Siegel, R. Buckminster Fuller, Karl Menninger, Carl Simonton, Gerald Jampolsky, Wayne Dyer, Joyce Brothers and many others. Many of these prominent authorities became members of ELS’s Board of Advisors, and contributed a great deal of their knowledge to our programs.
